The Selian Lutheran Hospital project is a mother and child health unit with a 71 bed pediatric ward. It is the nucleus of a public health outreach program providing lifesaving immunizations and medical care for Maasai children throughout the 10,000 square mile Arusha region. In it's first operating year the hospital treated 35,000 patients.

Gerou and Associates critiqued a series of designs for the Selian Lutheran Hospital making functional and design recommendations and aesthetics, functionality and life safety. Using energy efficient strategies suited for the climate of northern Tanzania the Hospital was able to take advantage of natural ventilation and daylighting.
